The Quest for Land....

One of the most exciting times in our country’s history was in 1889. A new dawn was on the horizon as exciting opportunities awaited in a strange and uncharted territory. That was the Oklahoma Land Rush. People of all races and backgrounds were lured by the prospect of a new era, new beginnings, and new freedoms. The journey was arduous and demanding, terrain and conditions were like that many had never seen. But the ideals and vision of creating a new life in a beautiful surrounding was enough for these settlers to persevere.

Freedom TrailRiders is excited to be in a similar position over 100 years later. As with our forefathers, we’re excited to be on the search for new land. While much of what we know today may be charted, we still long for the tough terrain that our ancestors found so daunting. By taking our families into nature it’s our way of connecting with our past. The vehicles we use today are akin to the Conestoga wagons that were seen on the prairie over a century ago.

We’re looking for generous land owners that are friendly to responsible motorized recreation, and that may have a parcel of land that suits our needs. We’re looking for a parcel that has rocky or boulder strewn terrain, may have ledge or hilly topography, and is large enough to support small groups of light duty 4x4’s (typically 10-12 vehicles.) Maybe you have a parcel that is already being used illegally by others. We can help you secure and patrol your land. We practice the Tread Lightly! principles along with sound and ecologically friendly trail building practices. We also offer the opportunity for land owners to access portions of their land that may have been previously unreachable other than by foot.

If this sounds like a proposition that may be of interest to you, or if you’re even just curious, please feel free to contact us. We can be reached through our mailing address at: Freedom TrailRiders, Inc. P.O. Box 93, North Easton, MA 02356 or via e-mail at vicepresident@freedomtrailriders.org.
